#CovidSurvivor

What a journey this has been, to recap I was one of those crazy cautious people that due to my underlying conditions did not venture out of the house, so the one time I did I was extremely cautious and still somehow managed to catch the dreaded Covid virus. My first thought turned to my family (hubby and kids) and my mind raced with what this meant for them. My boys were so brave and did the nostril testing along with my hubby, luckily both boys were negative and only hubby and myself were positive.

What followed was a rollercoaster of emotions and ailments. I honestly did not even comprehend how sick I was, from fevers, body aches, no taste in my mouth, tummy cramps, shortness of breath, cough, and nausea. My stats for oxygen at one point was between 89 - 91 and on more than one occasion the doctor wanted me to be admitted to hospital, however my fear was that being hospitalized might open me up to picking up even more infections on top of Covid, whether this was the right or wrong decision I don't know, but thankfully it worked out for me.

Fast forward to Monday this week and I had to go for Xrays as I had developed Bronchitis on top of the Covid (yes which was exactly what I tried to avoid from going to hospital), according to research this is where things get complicated as your immune system is already so low, luckily my GP acted quickly and gave me another strong course of antibiotics and prednisone which really made all the difference. I am feeling heaps better and hubby and I spent the day scrubbing the house from walls to books to anything, we changed curtains, bedding and pillowcases. And just like that our isolation period was done and we had survived the unknown.

Many people have asked me can you get it again or does this mean that you are now immune, well according to what they already know you can most certainly get it again but I am choosing to believe that there must be some form of antibodies that will help me fight off future attacks. My GP however will be referring me to a Pulmnologist as this is the 3rd time I have had bronchitis this year and we are not even fully in winter yet, even with my Asthma this is quite unusual for me so hopefully the specialist can help with finding the root cause. For now I will continue to utilize my vitamins daily and I vow to live everyday with more purpose. I want to take back my life and become healthier mentally and physically so if you want to sponsor me with a good eating/lifestyle change plan please feel free to let me know lol.

To each and everyone that took the time to send messages, WhatsApp's, those who called, those who offered help or support, those who prayed and those that followed my blog thank you from the bottom of mine and my families heart. I truly believe in the power of prayer and that all your prayers healed us.

To end off, I know that many people around the world have not been as blessed as we have and many have lost the battle against this virus and to all those I offer my deepest sympathies and condolences. My greatest highlight after this ordeal is depicted in the picture below of Zachary being able to sit next to me in bed this morning (yes not our best pic but who cares that was not the point), he often stood at my bedroom door saying how much he missed laying by me in bed and he finally got to do so even for just a minute as his Xbox called him away lol.

In the words of Desmond Tutu: "Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness." So my hope for you is that no matter how bad things get that you know despite the darkness the sun will come out tomorrow!

    1. Hi Lizelle my normal routine is berotec and asthavent however currently I'm utilising Symbicor Turbainhaler. I take two puffs in the morning and evening however I am able to take it 3 times a day in need. One thing I have learnt is that despite being in close proximity to us alot our kids immune systems still fought off the virus but neither of them having any comorbidites. Hope this helps
